MK4 Supra Turbo
I am a freak when it comes to lines on a car. If the body is torqued on a car it really turns me off. I know the '07 line, specifically the speed3 will be undergoing better structural ridgidity but I am curious to see how well the current 3's have been holding their integrity.

Body torque is usually most noticeable on the ass end of the car where the trunk line meets the rear quarters or bumper.

Please post pics of your car for analysis. Preferrably rear end, but all shots are welcome. Thank you. :)

Ok, there is a gap between each body panel on a car. if a body has a poor structure the gaps can be unevel and if the car is toqred enough, thing wont line up @ all.

ex: You are looking @ the back of a car. the red squares are the taillights the big center rectangle is the trunk and the two outer rectangles are the rear quarter panels (the black squares are the wheels...primitive i know :p )

now obviously the illustration is exagerrated to convey my meaning but you should get the idea.

Hope that clears things up..

What FWD car torques the body like that? It sounds like you are launching your Supra too hard and too often.

actually.
Thats what i thought you were trying to say but i wanted to understand it better.
I have noticed this on my car, and it bothers me a lot.
Now there is an addendum to this because my Trunk had to be replaced due to a minor accident. The accident didnt affect the frame but only the trunk lid. It got punctured by a mail box. Now i dont know if the body shop that fix it didnt do it right or what but i think it looked good when it was done. But now i can see an increased gap on one side. I'll try to take a pic this weekend.
Question, how can the body torque like that if all the power is going to the front wheels?

Do you keep bags of sand on one side of your car?

if it's a problem for you, stop bitching and buy braces to "fix" it

actually. my car has pretty straight lines. almost perfect and nearly 12 years old with some hard driving under it's belt:

I notice it mainly in hondas and such. civics are fwd.

ZoomVT seems to know what I'm talking about. sorry if this confuses the rest of you..

Oh and Zoom. You asked how the rear could torque if the power is up front. It doesn't matter where the power is if someone is hard around corners, the body is going to flex no matter what.

I understand what your talking about, I just don't think it has too much relevance on Mazdas. They have pretty stiff structures, especially the newer generations.

Thanks. That is what I was looking for. I knew you knew what I was talking about btw. Just wondering if people had pics to see for myself as i tend to be a bit more anal with stuff like this.

where my rear bumper meets the quarter pannels theres a little gap now. I dont think thats got anything to do with the torque thing your talkin about though. I bet its from when my friend rear ended me with the beamer....
