Should I replace these Geolandars?

Mazda CX-5 Touring
Just got a used, excuse me, previously owned CX-5 Touring with 23K miles, AWD. My first Mazda. My first SUV. Has original 225-65-17 Geolandars with 3/32-4/32 tread. Don't know tread depth when new, but my gut says it's time to replace them before winter. I live in mid-Ohio. Appreciate your input.

Been looking at Bridgestone Dueler HL 422 Ecopia. Gets good reviews.

My stock Geolanders lasted 34k - they are down to the wear indicators and are done. I do not like the OEM tires. I'm having Firestone AT's put on Wed..we'll see

The answer to your question is the "before winter" part. If it were summer you could probably run them another 5k miles. I just replaced the tires on my wife's Miata because I don't want her on thin rubber should we actually get some rain in Calif.!

In the same situation, i have been thinking about getting the Continental CrossContact LX20 with EcoPlus Technology since tiretrack and consumer reports both rate them tops.
maybe the Michelin Latitude Tour.

Thanks, folks, for your input. "paris1", you hit the nail on the head. Low thread and "winter's coming" did it for me. Ordered the Duelers today.

Bastard! Rubbing that in our faces! Here in Ottawa I put my Miata into winter storage yesterday. Will not see it again until April.
