Should have seen this coming ... camber issue

Everyone,

I should have know this was coming, it should have been the first thing I looked at, but I was too excited to pick up the new car. The previous owner dropped it, and didnt correct the camber.

I now have to replace 4 tires, and either get a camber correction kit, or re-install the original springs. I'm leaning toward camber kit, because most places want 400-500 to put the old springs back on.

I'm going with Pzero nero tires, so I'm out 170ea on those as well. Any thoughts on camber kits, or suggestions?

Thanks in advance

Dude, that really sucks. I had my broker get the alignment checked at a US Mazda dealer before he brought it back, and although it was "within spec", I've recently learned that their tolerance is a bit loose. I read a thread stating what the numbers should be, but I can't remember where it was now. I'll see if I can find it so you can insist yours falls within the tighter parameters.

Oops, can't link to other forums I guess. I'll PM you.

thanks OJ, I just feel like an idiot, I knew better ya know. but atleast the former owner is a stand up individual, and will share in some of the costs with me ... I was expecting to get completely shafted.

I'm lowered on H&Rs for about 7,000 miles now I havent noticed any unusuall wear... the backs are camber adjustable and my front is at like -1.0 backs are like -1.3. The front is like 2inches lower than stock. Well at least the guy is helping you out. After dropping the first thing you do is get an alignment.
My back driver side was at like -3.7 degrees after installing the springs

can you post the info here?

I dont know if an alignment would fix this, from the look of the tires they were riding on the inside wall hard. What ever I do, I dont want to spend a fortune ... got an estimate last night of 170ea for the camber corretion kit (need one for each front wheel) plus mech time for install. I'm not a happy man.

therpmstore sells the front balljoints for 179 a pair, and thats what you need.

how far can the 6 be lowered before extra parts are required to properly align it?

I'm not sure but like I said i'm lowered 2inches - which is about as low as you can go .. like a 1 inch gap between tire and fender .... I'm at -1.0 degrees ...no major signs of wear .... I,m running nitto neo gens tires which I think are designed with a stronger inside tread. Inside wear may be a little different with different tires. I think the biggest problem he had was that the guy didnt allign after the he put the springs on.
