Short Throw Shift Plate for the MS6

Just ordered. Thanks for the sale Jaime! Can't wait to install. Unfortunately I will probably wait for my SRI install to do this, so I don't have to take out and put in the air box twice. My SRI is backordered for like 3 weeks!

I'm going to leave it on my car for the time being. I want to get a new shifter knob (heavy, metal) and see if that makes any sort of difference. In the cases where it's hard to get into gear (with TWM also installed), it takes a good amount of extra force that makes the plastic stock shifter feel sloppy. I think a full metal shifter could make a lot of difference. I'll pick one up and check.

Jamie sent me an E4 shift knob last week. I ordered it Wednesday and had it on Friday. With the heavier shift knob with full metal inserts the sloppy shifting has greatly subsided. It still takes quite a bit of extra lateral effort to get over into the gate for 5th and 6th, but it feels better than before. I'm getting used to it at least.

Thanks for the update. I'm glad the knob arrived so fast.

Thanks,

Well, I just installed the SSP and it is sweet. The shifts are definitely shorter and seem to be more precise. The only thing I noticed is it requires greater effort to complete the shifts. Is this normal?

I noticed that as well. It is normal because by shortening the shift you are in a sense, sacrificing leverage. Without as much leverage you are required to use a little more effort to engage the gear. You will get used to it after a few days and won't think anything of it after a week.

Chris couldn't have put it better. He's spot on. In a week you'll really love it.

Thanks,
Jamie

Thank is kind of what I figured. The other question I had was regarding the shift lengths. Are all the gears supposed to be equal? It seems that the shifts get shorter as a rip through the gears, where 1st to 2nd seems like a longer throw than 5th to 6th. This may have been the way it is stock and I am just paying more attention to the lengths now that I have the SSP installed. Let me know. Thanks!

Due to everything being fixed in place there is no way for the throws to get increasingly shorter as you move from 1st to 6th. I assume it was like this from the factory and is now accentuated a bit more with the shift plate..

Sorry from the delay in replying,

Jamie

ok so quick question since i am interested in this product. first off let me say i dont have any kind of short shifter so if i install this product will it be harder to shift without a weighted shift knob? i have the autoexe carbon fiber shift knob and don't want to have to get rid of it if that's the case. after reading through this thread everything else looks good. it seems like a very easy product to install and in my opinion i like the stock height of the shifter rod so i think this is something for me.

also what is the shift weight for? sorry i am not very knowledgeable on this shifter subject lol..... thanks for the help

I have Jamie's product on my car with the stock knob and I wouldn't say it was harder to shift, but it's more direct. Like I've said in the past, it feels like how it should have come from the factory.

A little more effort will be needed but it''s something that won't be noticed after a few days. The install only takes a few minutes and with your list of mods I'm sure you can do in it in less than 5.

The counter weight is very important. When you reduce the radius the shifter arm on the transmission travels the speed is increased. When you increase that speed with the heavy stock counter weight you will get a clunk/bang sound and more importantly it will want to bounce back. The smaller counter weight I provide eliminates that. In addition to providing the proper weight it also does not interfere with FMIC piping if you ever chose to install one. If you have any other questions just let me know.

Thanks,
Jamie

no i think i am sold on this product due to people reviews. let me look through my finances and see if i can swing it this friday. do you have all three colors in stock? also do you have any other colors available? i am interested in the blue plate but if you could do a custom color like a silver plate with blue speed 6 lettering i would really really like that more. i will be looking into the stage 2 with the shifter bushings

I have them in stock and I will ship the same day you order. Sorry I can't do the silver with blue lettering.

Thanks,
Jamie
