hey guys, so i need new shocks for my 2009 4 door mazda 3 i touring and i am wondering if you guys have any suggestions..
the car is lowered with eibach sportlines..
i am not looking to spend a ridiculous amount of money lol..

thanks guys!!

Koni Yellows. Hands down. The cheapest ive seen is 475 i tihnk shipped. I have sportlines and yellows on mine. Ride is superb.

Personally I would just go with stock replacement shocks. I for one don't buy into the whole "lowering spring will blow out stock shocks" thing. Here is my reasoning, all lowering springs have a higher spring rate than stock springs and therefore will not let stock shocks bottom out or for that matter work harder since the springs are stiffer. Just my 2 cents. I would think that saving ~$100.00 is going to be a good deal too.

The problem isn't bottoming out it's actually a combination of the decreased travel and the higher than OEM spring rate. OEM shocks are designed for the springs that come on the car. The purpose of the shocks is to control the movement of the car on top of the spring. A higher than OEM spring rate will actually cause the shocks to work harder to control the spring if they are even valved properly to do that job.

You will always have a better ride with a shock that is valved to properly control the spring that it is used in conjunction with. It is for this reason that I would recommend the Koni Yellow as well.

I guess we will agree to disagree. lol. I will say that I believe that shocks control wheel oscillations and not the the car, that job is being done by the springs. Like I said, agree to disagree. So lets not turn this into some kind of pissing match. At the end of the day the op will make the decision that suits them best.

No problem hat1018! :) I'm not here to argue with you, simply giving my recommendation and the reason why. If you want to talk more about suspension feel free to PM me or something.

BTW, you're right the shocks are there to control wheel oscillations. It is easier for me to think about things in terms of what the whole car does. But like you said, not our thread ;)
