Shocks Struts on the p5 when to replace them?

Wait, I don't understand what you mean.

I was just saying that protegegarage does not have the compete kit, it just has the shocks.

I am guessing the kit (shocks+springs all made by tokico) is decent. However, if you want some specific springs, you can get the shocks and springs separately.

If you have the money, I would get both shocks and springs at the same time.

Oh, so you're NOT lowering the car? That kit will lower it. If you're not lowering, you might as well keep what you have :D.

All righty got the HP nice system car rides better then brand new.......
So you're riding on stock springs and HP shocks? Interesting.

My stock susp. feels tight @ 72K miles; however, I don't have anything to compare to. :)

Ya i think mine are in the need of getting replaced. I got 108k on my 02. All highway miles but if and when i do replace i'm getting ksport's adjustiable coilovers

That's cool. I wouldn't mind upgrading, but the labour costs are so high!

my mom has gotten over 150,000 on three of her struts. one has gone bad, but the other three are still good.

168,xxx miles on stock struts and springs.. Left front strut is "grunting" over harsh bumps, but car still rides like new (other than the sound.)

Yeah, I have that sound too sometimes. I think it's "normal." :) High mileage FTW!

I'm on the verge of putting new struts on the car to complement my Eibachs. The stockers are getting tired at 63K miles. I personally don't think struts should go that long anyway because just 'cuz you can't feel it doesn't mean they don't actually suck. Anyway, is there really any advantage to Tokicos or other such brands over what you can drive to O'Reilly and get?? I know people don't think fondly of "over the counter" suspension products on here, but what is the reasoning for that other than what name is on the product?

The OEM replacements are KYB GR2s see here http://www.kyb.com/products/detail.php?ID=1

They are the "direct" replacements so they are really not an "upgrade", although they are "gas" filled shocks IDK...For just about the same amount of money you can get the Tokiko blues and they are a bit more "performance" oriented and are pretty much a "direct" replacement for the MSP and MP3 suspensions....

The only reason I will be getting Blues or Illuminas is for the reinforced endlink brackets, so I can upgrade my swaybar without worrying about destroying my strut...

BTW...I'm also at 67,000 miles with Espelir springs and one has begun losing some of the oil, so my time is coming up fast to do the replacement.

I ran stock struts with lowering springs & a 22mm rear sway with stock endlinks for about 2 years before switching to the illuminas with no issues at all. Still running stock endlinks now. Have broken nothing & no annoying noises but if the oil leaketh then that's a different issue. Mine were still dry but the bumps were seeming to be bigger & rougher right before replacing.
