My 2002 P5 has 67k miles and was wondering at what mileage to replace the shocks/struts? Also, any recommendations on what brand to replace them with is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

JC

I swapped mine out at about 89,xxx miles and they were still in decent shape. I put in the tokicos and Espiler spings more as a matter of want rather than need. The handling is greatly improved and the wheel fitment is superb.
If you're looking for an OE ride, you could go with KYB. I had GR-2s put on my wife's old pro Es and they worked like a champ.

Like my daddy used to tell me " if it ain't broke, don't mess wit it"... unless you want it to handel better. If the ride feels messed up then upgrade. (Tokico HP's or Ilumina's)

I'm wondering about mileage, too. I can;t tell if my struts are going south or I'm just getting used to the nature of the car. It just doesn't seem as well controlled as it used to when new. When I do finally replace the struts I'll replace which Tokico's and Eibach springs. BTW, I'm at about 65K miles now.

Good choices, but Tein S-Techs are some very nice springs.

If you suspect a strut going out, get that corner of the car ocsillating up and down by pushing up and down on the bumper/fender. Once you get it going in a good rythm, let go immediately. The bouncing should go away in a little more than 1 cycle. If it goes on longer or seems too easy to bounce, then the strut's internal valves are probably worn out.

Another way to check is a visual inspection of the strut itself. If it's wet or looks like there was fluid there (probably a grimey/muddy mess) then the strut is leaking.
