I got a shoulder surgery done 2 weeks ago and i cant shift with my right hand for a least 2 more months...I can even turn the wheel but i can hold it with my right.

Ive decided to start driving again 2 days ago so i gotta shift with my left...Its definitly more complicated and somewhat risky but im going a good job and no way this MS3 is spending the summer parked...

Just thought i would share, any of you experienced this in your life?

I had shoulder surgery about 3 weeks ago. Was back to driving after about a week. Too bad its in the wife's minivan. I'll be surprised if I'm back driving my car any time in the next few weeks, but I'm jonesing bad. The Odyssey is a nice, comfortable ride and has decent power for what it is, but, well, it's a minivan. Entertainingly, my wife is pulling phenomenal mileage out of my car. Last tank was just shy of 28mpg.

i had proken my foot and was in a cast when I had my motorcycle. I had to reach down and shift with my hand. Luckily it was a 2 stroke dual sport so I could shift without the clutch.

Good luck with the driving. Just take it slow and dont try to go crazy.

If that happens to me, I'll just have to drive the Ram for a while. The Speed will get a vacation. Hope your recovery goes well.

move to england or japan, you'd use your left to shift anyways over there!

edit: almost had to go through with this once, except i near shattered my left shoulder. i put so many microfractures and tears in tendons that i literally couldnt lift it out far enough to use it to hold the steering wheel. i had to do everything with my right hand which makes it fun to drive. yeah i know you guys are talking about your right hand being messed up but atleast you could just kinda lay it there to help keep the car strait when shifting! lol

I had shoulder surgery on March 30th, luckily it was my left shoulder though so I can shift fine and where my left arm was slung it was perfect for holding the steering wheel at the 7 o'clock position. I'm starting to get back to the point where I can turn the wheel with my left arm though now that I'm out of the sling. Trying to get my strength up so I can autox in June. What kind of surgery did you have?

You should hook up a second steering wheel and pedal assembly like they do in the drivers ed cars. Then you can drive from the passenger seat. :D

I had a fully severed rotator cuff surgically repaired... had to shift left handed for at least 4-6 weeks. Takes patience & concentration, and you won't be winning the traffic light drag races, but it can be done. Shifting left handed turned out to be easier than trying to train a friend who had never driven a manual transmission to shift for me from the passenger's seat.

I drive with my knee and shift with my left hand while turning.... it isnt that hard....

Is this a common occurrence for you? lol.. anyway, knee driving isn't a big deal once you get your head past the thought of IF you're on a bend with a broken right arm, steering with your knee, while your left hand is shifting and your knee happens to slip because of a bump in the road or something... you're ******!

I drive with my knee all day.... I can complete most turns with my knee(as long as the turn isn't tight enough where I would have to cross or shift hands). My friends get a kick out of it. I can actually control my torque steer with my knee, s**** fun hahahahaha
