Shifter spring?

Car is a 5 speed. Aside from needing bushings there seems like a spring is missing in my shifter. Like how you would normally push down for reverse- I have no resistance there it's just loose.

Does anyone have an exploded diagram or anything? Is this spring available separately? I have yet to open it up and see but I don't know exactly what I'm looking for.

What do you mean push down for reverse? Like push the shifter down towards the ground or down towards the rear of the car

Down towards the ground. Or do you not need to on these car? Sorry my only other experience with MT is old VWs and the reverse lock out is by a spring.

I took a look at the service manual diagram but didn't see anything. I'm wondering if my bushing are gone completely. The shifter is really loose all around and I can move it up and down which is why I thought there might supposed to be a spring.

There is no spring like you're thinking of for our car. You may be missing the snap ring, or it may be broken, for the shifter:

Otherwise something else could be broken...but its really easy to take your center console out and check for anything that's broken (explained well in that installation manual)

It should not move up and down, the only lock out is when it grinds if you try to put it into reverse while moving forwards
