Sup fellas, I want to get a new shift knob but I was wondering about the threading, will most of the higher grade (momo, sparco, kartboy, etc) shiftknobs screw on by themselves or will I have to use little screws to hold it in place? I had a $7 shiftknob from walmart (was a joke gift) and although it was "universal" required me to use little screws to hold it in place. It held on tightly, problem was no matter how tight I made it, I could still spin it around it circles. Someone please tell me a real shift knob will stay put =)

Ummm... he's sick. My best friend's sister's brother's girlfriend knows this guy who knows this girl who said she saw him pass out at 31 Flavors last night. Guess it's pretty serious. :D

Sorry, couldn't resist. Aaaaand sorry again because I don't know the answer to your question but I am just as eager to find out also as I too am looking into the purchase of a new shiftknob.

teflon (sp?) tape around the threads will hold it still. I've got a kartboy and a mazdaspeed knob from corksport they both work great with the tape.

teflon will work if you are screwing on a new knob and its loose. But for most aftermarket knobs, it requires you to use thos 3 screws, and the only way to secure it is to somehow make it really snug with the shift lever.
I used rubber tubing from some hose thingy to make mine fit more snug, and then screwed the allen screws into that, no more moving around :)

I fought with my Sparco Knob and never could quite get it to fit right, so I sold it and bought the Kartboy. I LOVE IT!!! It looks great with the blue sticker and feels great in my hand. I'd highly recommend it, even though it looks plain.

I have the kartboy, you have to special order it for the mp3 threads. I think it is too small though, but it fits nice.

I have a Momo Race Air/Leather ( I think that is what it is called ). It goes on with a rubber grommet over the top of the shifter and then 3 set screws hold it in place. I also have the shift boot that threads into the bottom of the knob, or you could use the bottom cap.

It came loose the other day but it just needed the screws tightened.

So I'm sitting there watching Twister on TNT last night smacking my head becasue I can't figure out where I know one of the crew members from. His name was Rabbit in the movie I think....

...then suddenly It pops into my head - "Swing batta batta batta sawiinng"

...still doesn't help....errr where do I know this guy from?

...then finally it hit me that it was Ferris' best friend and the scene was the baseball game. Cept now he's grown up. Weird....same thing happened when I caught a few seconds of "Godzilla" (the hollywood version) on TV until I realized it was Ferris.

anyway...back to your scheduled program.
