Shift errors study--with Weight vs. W/O

the missed 3rd gear is due to a sloppy lower motor mount, that is fact. i dont care who drove what how long ago, that means s*** to me. i have been drag and autox racing since i started driving 12 years ago so the fact that your farts have dust in them doesnt make your silly ass "study" any more accurate. you may be able to drive but you seem to be missing some very basic mechanical knowledge. removing the counter weight requires the driver to use more force while shifting, thats all there is to it really. you may be able to feel your way around better without it. that may be true. but if you need to feel your way through the gears, you are shifting too damn slow !!

I agree with you on the 2-3 issue but removing the counter weight actually makes the shift action feel lighter. It takes less force to go into gears now but it may feel too light for some and has a very notchy on/off feel to it (which I like so far).

yeah, i remember it was VERY nothcy and sloppy feeling. i suppose the shifter may feel lighter, but without the added force of that weight you ARE actually useing more of your power to push through the synchros. think of it like pounding in a nail........ if you use your bare hand it will be lighter and easier to swing, but at the point of impact it isnt going to do much. now use a hammer. it may feel a little heavier but when you hit the synchros the weigh will leet you push through effortlessly.
