Shaving the rear badges

Just wondering if I shave the rear badges off the trunk if there are any holes behind them or not? I dont wanna go removing them if its gonna look like $hit. And is it just the normal adhesive that 90% of manufacturers use also? Thanks for all the help!

I remember someone filling in the holes with bondo and using touch up paint. Not sure how it came out. You can "SEARCH" and try to find it. Best way IMO is to have it filled in and repaint the whole trunk.

There are 2 holes behind the Flying M, 2 holes behind the protege emblem and 2 holes behind the mazdaspeed badge. I was working at a dealership when I took mine off so I just filled it in and painted over it :-) But no.. Mazda doesn't use adhesive.. They think holes are a much nicer way of making sure you advertise for them (headshake)

I see a bunch of members have a turbo badge in place of where the "Protege" one was on the trunk. I assume they all didne fill in the holes and have the thing all repainted, so which badge do they use that covers the existing holes and allows the new "turbo" badge to look stock?

theres no holes under the mazdaspeed badge.

i removed all the badges, welded the holes and had it repainted. looks really clean with out any badges IMO.

75 total? seems like a decent price.

any idea on an estimate of how much more it would be to fill in the holes left my removing the spoiler? i'm considering that ...

The 03.5 wing has a bunch of holes under it, I think it was between 6-8 total. It can be welded shut, but you may want to consider a aftermarket trunk lid because some of the holes are about the size of a quarter.

I had mine welded when I switched to the 03 wing, so it can be done.
