Service Pack 2 Question

I've got a Dell and on their website they said I need to upgrade the computers BIOS. Has one with their Dell done this? Another question what happens if I don't upgrade the BIOS and install Service Pack 2?

I put SP2 on my mom's Dell, without any BIOS updating. Runs fine. Might depend how old said Dell is.

i've got a question for people with sp2...

has anyone noticed or had a problem with audio levels jumping wildly high when scanning files in realplayer or media player 9.0? whenever i scan farther ahead in a file, it goes so insanely loud i freak the **** out...not to mention its absurdly annoying.

wondering if its just me, or if someone else has this same problem.

Tuned: Same here, should be fine

element: havent noticed that, but i use winamp5. Could be the Directsound s*** though. Updated DX?

im getting random issues with crashing and the dr watson program getting errors with sp2 on my dell...

i use winamp5 for all my mp3's, but avi's and s*** that i download off the net (read : porn and car vids from this site) seem to do it in media player 9.0.

might try updating directx...but i think farcry updated it for me not too long ago.

just downloaded media player 10.0, and it still does the same ******* thing.

maybe its a problem with the audigy2 5.1...?

This could be BIOS related. Do you get Blue Screens of Death (BSOD) with STOP messages? Have you checked MS Knowledge Base (KB)?

that was my next plan last night, but the soundblaster page was all sorts of ****** up. so i checked again this morning and downloaded a few updates for it, and voila...good as new.

at least it wasn't an sp2 problem. then i would have been really pissed.
