Seat travel--has anyone modded a P5?

2003 P5
Hi all:
Again, I'm a new guy here, have had a P5 since last October (test drove 'em in '02 but couldn't swing one back then).

In any case, I'm 6'2" tall with longish legs (and a bad back, bad right hip) and would *really* benefit from an inch or inch and a half of additional rearward seat travel. I have put Recaros in previous cars, and my current Ford Van has the seats mounted about an inch and a half back from the stock position (redrilled the bases) and washer stacks under the front. In fact, I've cheated a bunch of prior vehicles with washer stacks under the front seat mount--but the P5 already has the height knobs front and back.

I like the P5 seats--had thought about Corbeaus or like that, but don't think that the seats would be any better than the stockers. And I'm not sure if Corbeau mounts would guarantee me more rearward movement. It does look like moving the seat back a bit would not mess up folding the rear seat back but would mess up flipping the bottom cushion, but I can live with that.

Soooo...it looks like I could make up some adapter tabs or drill a plate or two to move the driver's seat back just a little. Doing this on the floor gets a bit flaky because of the angled mounts on the front of the seat base. Also looks like I could do this right at the bottom of the seat. I'd just pull a seat out and take a look, but I'm in Michigan and it's too cold to spend the time right now.

Any ideas? Has anyone done a successful surgery of this type? I don't want to hack anything, and want to be able to return the seats to stock config if I want to.

I did a search and didn't turn up anything definite...

Thanks in advance,
George

PM the wrench. I know he had some way that he bolted the seats to the floor that gave him enough clearance.

I modded my 97 mustang seat travel by simply flipping the seat over, unbolting the bracket from seat-4 bolts, drilled 2 holes 1 inch back on the bracket for the front bolts & bolted the bracket back on. Put it back in. Had more leg room. It'd be a miracle if it were that easy on this car. Haven't tried or looked tho.
