Okay so this started happening a few days ago, when I start driving there seems to be a scrapping noise coming from my tire/brake area. When I apply my brakes it goes away. Sometimes it goes away and sometimes it doesn't but more times it does. And I'm not rue if that's a sign of my brakes getting low or what?

how many miles do you have on the brakes? it sounds like something is in between the pads and rotors. sometimes rocks can get in there causing the grinding noise.

I'll second Erv on this. I occassionally have the same sounds. Dust, sand or small pebbles.

It's weird I haven't heard it today so far except earlier this morning when I dropped off my Mazda emblem and fog lights off to the painters and it was only momentarily. What do you suggest crew?

my fiance's mz2 is doing the same thing... funny thing is she only has 12k on the car.. prob has something stuck between the rotor and pads.. will check it out this weekend or next

I'm not sure if it's got something to do with the pads, or if the rotors are crap, but I've also noticed the same noise. Mine comes with vibration under heavy braking as well. It seems that my stock setup is prone to deposits on the braking surface which leads to the scrape/rub noise at low speed and a wicked shudder under heavier braking. If I go out and "resurface" the rotors by doing a few heavy 60mph to 20mph slow-downs and some 30-0mph stops, everything goes back to normal for a few days.... but the noise and vibration always come back. I'm about to swap out the pads and rotors because of it. Also because I'm at 45K miles.
