SCC strikes again!

would one of you tuned mp3 owners PLEASE get a pic of your ride in SCC? After grinning through the article in the latest issue about my mazdaspeed I checked out a write up on the new impreza 2.5rs. They are commenting on that fact that it only has 165 hp and this is a quote

"After all, if a mazda MP3 had this much power, you would think it had secret alien technology from Roswell"

is SCC ENTIRELY unaware of this corner of the car enthusiast world? Saying its ridiculous for an MP3 to have the 165 hp that the 2.5rs has when in reality spoolin's 203WHP mp3 begs a wrx comparison instead of a 2.5rs one. we SERIOUSLY need to bombard SCC this month with letters and emails of your rides! lets see if we can get some respect in the november issue! We need this forum to be recognized in their web site section too.

I cant imagine if maybe only HALF of the 1800 members on this board e-mailed SCC that they would deny us. Better clean up your engine bay spoolin, ur gonna be a feature article in november

Just a little reality check. You're talking about comparing a highly modified MP3 to a stock WRX. Before you open that can of worms, check out the numbers that the modified WRX's are getting. The 2.5rs is a MUCH more reasonable comparison to make to the MP3.

I am well aware of the fact that it is a stock wrx comparison to a modded mp3. But if they were up to speed on mp3 mods or respected the mp3 as a potential tuner car, they wouldnt have said
"you would think it had secret alien technology from Roswell"

maybe something more along the lines of
"you would think it had been tuned/modified"

the point is, saying it would take alien technology to get an mp3 to wrx levels in hp is a pretty closed-minded/disrespectful/uneducated thing to say. take your pick

I think they are just pointing out how unresponsive these cars are to the typical mods. From the previous things they've written about the MP3, it's pretty obvious that they don't think the car is a bad car.

I just don't feel like it's a huge reason to get upset. Now as for having everyone send them letters, I say "hell yeah". That's the only way to get manufacturers to take notice and start mass producing parts.

It may not take alien technology to get the MP3 to run WRX numbers, but it will definately take a large checking account. The only way you're going to get the MP3 or any protege for that matter to run what a WRX with a simple manual boost controler runs in the quarter mile, you will have to dive into the internals or spend a s*** load of money on transmissions or what have you. Spoolin ran a 14.3 if I remember correctly and he might possibly be able to run a high 13, like 13.8 or 13.99, but I just don't see him running a low 13 second pass no disrespect to Spoolin. Those are just my thoughts.
