The plot thickens. I still think there is more than 1 person involved.

not exactly, I've got users that have used these IP's in North Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee and Wisonsin...

I just read that too, wierd! He has been shut down by paypal b/c of our complaints, aol has always been used apparently by someone else he claims, and he has 500$ appear in his bank account?

all of AOL's traffic is (or at least used to be) routed through VA. they proxy serve traffic, so any AOL user appears to have an ip coming out of AOL's headquarters in that general region. not a good resource when trying to identify location.

looks like paypal isn't going to help me out. Here's a snippet from the email they just sent:


After careful review, we have determined that the seller is at fault but
regret to inform you that we were unable to recover any funds from the
seller's account. As stated in the PayPal User Agreement, recovery of funds
associated with a Buyer Complaint cannot be guaranteed.


Hopefully the FBI will be more helpful...

This is the response this morning while admitting 500 dollars was mysteriously deposited into his bank account:

My paypal account is back open, but with nothing in the history. All I did was re register. I would suggest filing a complaint against my account again. I am waiting to hear from paypal still.

I'd really like to see the authorities pick up this case, I'd feel paying taxes was justified

fluke, have you contacted the FBI's internet fraud team yet?? There is an online form you'll fill out. Once it's submitted it gets put in line. It took the FBI 2-3weeks to call me. When they did they verified some info and said they contacted my fraudulant seller. He should be contacting me within 48hrs. If I didn't hear from him in 48hrs to call back with my case number and they'd handle it. I hung up the phone and less than 30 minutes later the guy called me and refunded all of my money.

Well, if you guys have a consistent ip addy, i would recommend getting the authorities involved so they can sopeona the information on which user was granted that ip, and build a LEGAL case on this bastard.
