SAT radio question

While they have the media/sat button and you can plug the factory unit into the back of the radio the wiring is not in the car for the reciever. When you buy the sat radio reciever it comes with the wiring you will have to run to the radio.

Exactly what VR said.

You will have a small unit that will mount behind the dash, and there is also a processor/signal amplifier (I think) in the trunk on the passenger side. The antenna plugs in there.

The reason I ask is because I sold my car and the guy that is buying it, for some odd reason, doesn't want the sat radio and he was wondering if I could take it out. (dunno)

Yes you can. You'll have to pull your radio, disconnect the white 16-pin connector on the back of the radio, then remove the box (I believe its behind the radio/glovebox). Follow that wire back to the pass. side of the trunk, remove the amplifier/processor box from the frame, then take out the cable and antenna.

BTW how much does the unit cost? Who ever buys it, will get a good deal. When I bought the car it was already activated. I don't know how long the subscription is good for but so far it is good.

Just removed it and it was a breeze. Cable ran all the way to the brain box in the trunk just like wiring a amp RCA cables. So I think I will ask $250 for it. Would that be a good price? What car will this be compatible with? I had Boe in my car.

I would sell it to any Mazda6/MS6 with that 16-pin connector on the back. They can't have an iPod adaptor (unless it's Axxess/Auxmod) or it won't work either.

Go ahead and throw up a FS thread, that is a more than fair price.

Were my instructions for locating everything fairly accurate?

The only thing that was different is that the box was in the trunk vice behind the glove box, but your directions were helpful. Thanks
