EDIT: Hoses are installed...pics are on page 2.

I was gone almost all day, but when I got home, I noticed a package on my doorstep. As usual, Forge Motorsport has some of the fastest shipping EVAR! :D I was part of the 1st batch from the Samco GB, so I got a set of hoses that Forge had in stock. The people in the 2nd batch should get their hoses in about 6-7 weeks (depending on where you live). I would like to say thank you again to Forge Motorsport for giving us an outstanding price in the GB, for their super fast shipping, & for their continued support & service to the Mazda community. (thumb)

Now for the problem...

If you have a P5, everything should be perfect & you will love these hoses. They look great, are very strong, have the Samco name on both sides (so you can see it anywhere), & come with high quality clamps. However, the MSP owners have run into a problem. Apparently no one realized that the 3rd radiator hose (the really small one) has an extra outlet on the MSP (presumably for the turbo or something) whereas the NA Proteges do not. Therefore, the 3rd radiator hose that Samco makes isn't compatible with the MSP. :(

I am going to drain my cooling system tomorrow in order to install the 2 larger hoses & refill it with distilled water & Water Wetter (1 plus of living in FL :p ). I was waiting to do this until I got my Samco hoses because I was hoping that installing them would correct the leak I have from the 3rd hose (that the dealer supposedly already fixed once). My plan now is to leave that hose, but swap in the better clamps (the stock clamps are non-adjustable) & hope that fixes the leak. I am going to speak to Forge & Samco to see if there is any way to get a different hose made for the MSP owners so that we can have the complete replacement set we paid for. This will probably cost extra if it's even possible, but I have no idea what to expect until I speak with them.

Here are the pics I have of the parts I got. I will add more pics tomorrow of the install.

Sorry about that Alex...I told Dima that you ARE supposed to be in the 1st batch. The hoses are being shipped via UPS, so I'd expect yours early next week.

Alex, yes you are in the first batch. your name is actually the first name in the word document (order) that i submitted to forge. those who are supposed to get their hoses first were highlighted.

please keep in mind that forge did not get back to me about the colors they had in stock. i don't expect it to change from what they told me originally but there is a slight possibility that they might be 1 red short or have a yellow in stock, just as an example although i really doubt.

as you get your hoses, please let me know so that i can "cross you off" the list.

i will work with ryan, forge and samco to resolve this little problem with the 3rd (the smallest) hose. ryan provided a list of who is affected by this. if you don't care about the little hose and don't mind using the stock one, please let us know as that will help us get an idea of "severity" of the problem. it will help us to know whether we will need just 2 new little hoses or all 10. hope i made myself clear.

Well, it's not that big of deal to me. By all means if they were going to fix the problem and provide us a new smaller hose for free I would obviously be more satisfied because I think it would go far in fixing the MSP's coolant leakage. But, if they want us to pay for the replacement hose or what not, then I'll just make due with the two hoses.

Thanks alot for the quick responses both of you, i didnt know if I had missed it or not, wasnt worried about it, just overly eager at getting some new toys for my car as usual.

Thx again for the help and follow ups, and black i wanna see that pic, even if only of the two bigger ones.

ryan just discovered the problem at the meet a couple of hours ago. we haven't spoken to forge or samco obviously about it yet so i wouldn't even want to guess whether they would charge extra or not.

maybe they have a universal piece that would fit or maybe they will agree to make one just for the msp. i would think that in that case we might have to ship off the hose to them as a model.

but really, i don't want to guess the outcome. we'll try to get this resolved. but i would still like to know how many people need a replacement for the 3rd hose no matter what and how many are fine with using the stock one. like ryan said, the improved clamps (and they are pretty nice) might help with the leak if any of you have that.

btw, on the turbo cars the 3rd hose is virtually invisible, so beauty-wise you guys will not loose anything.

My hoses are black, so they won't look all that different from stock, but that's the way I like it. :D

You can put me down as one of the people who is fine with just the two hoses if we cant get the third one made.

All I was saying is since my hoses aren't even made yet I would happily accept the third hose if they were able to make a replacement, but it's not Earth shattering to me.

this is basically what the msp people need:

i don't know if any of those will fit but i'll try to get together with ryan and measure out what the 3rd hose is supposed to be and whether any of those will fit.
The 3rd hose is a 90 degree bend with the small outlet on the side...that one is straight.

I am all set with the hoses they are sending. I have a p5 radiator waiting to go in my MSP.

(jacked)

Let me know how that conversion goes. I'm thinking I might just do the same thing before I bother to put the hoses in.

That doesn't necessarily mean the 3rd hose will work. I will have to get some pics to show you, but it seems like the outlet on the 3rd hose has something to do with the turbo.

its probably an extra coolant return line as it is in the bottom hose, not sure as I know jack about turbo setups but I understand what you mean, it is not going to be able to be replaced by a universal part, it will have to be molded for our applications like the top two are.
