safe to use liquid wrench on battery cable?

The positive battery cable is stuck on my old SAAB, I think the nut and bolt are damaged from corrosion or something. Can I safely use liquid wrench or something similar to loosen it? Removing the neg cable of course.
 
poor a little coca cola on them on them to get the corrosion off...
but yeah, you should be ok, I don't see why using liquid wrench to loosen them up wouldnt be a problem, just make sure not to hit the + and - terminals in the process. Look at the can and see how ignitable the stuff is.
 
Cleaning terminals

I usually mix some baking soda with water and apply it with a used toothbrush. It doesn't take much and really disolves the corrosion. YRMV

Coke huh? Interesting...

The battery is as dead as a door knob, so I don't think I have to worry much about shocking myself. Of course, my wife is freaking out about it.
