RX8 Going to the dealer for work...

'04 RX8
So..has anyone tied down their RX8 on a trailer out there...I went ahead and tied it down to the trailer using the tie down hooks that come in the trunk...and guess what?? The part of the inner structure that the hook screws into on the back side...bent down on an angle about a good two inches...popping the seam where the bumper attaches to the passenger quarter panel, and busting the blacked out panel on the lower bumper... now it makes no sense to me to supply tie down hooks and a place to screw them into the inner structure of the car, if the metal is not going to hold...just my two cents!

that is total crap...they are there for a reason and they should work properly, you shouldnt be stuck with that damage..

i think he is moving far far away thats why he trailered it
Good observation. (thumb)

Did they fix it? I would think they should. i mean, come on--the tie downs were good for holding it when it came over on the boat, right?

Arn't those the tow hooks and not the tie down hooks.... trying to figure out what you did.

I'm suddenly reminded of a geo being pulled out of a snowbank. Well, part of a geo anyway.

:wtf: you can't just drop that in there without sharing!! :D

Update...

Update...turns out where the threaded steal unit is welded to the car...the weld broke...very minor problem and now it is fixed...dealer did a fabulous job!

Yes..they say it wa a fluke...and that mine was the first one they ever had to reweld...so not to worry....I inspected the work too...now they also said that they are working on a recall for the rotors rusting...and they might be replacing them with a newly coated rotor so they wont rust...keep watching for that....but like I put in my other post..I just painted them...look wonderful!
