Rx-8 Gas???

Ok i have had a 3 for about a year now, I just sold it to my brother ,I am thinking about buying a RX-8 , but i have one concern. In the manual it says that you have to put premium gas in it. Is this a real big deal ? Will the car have alot of problems if you dont ? What are you guys putting in your 8? Thanks Alot ..Tony

i always put premium in my 8, the $2-3 difference between regular and premium per fillup is a no-issue to me

you *could* put quality 87 gas in there, and the ECU will adjust timing to prevent knock (and lose some power as result), but if you accidentally put in crappy 87 from some local mom-n-pop station, watch out (boom05)

I would highly suggest against putting anything but what they call for in the vehicle.

I have never used anything but 93 octane in my car - I'm not gonna try putting sh1tty gas in my baby. In fact, I stick with Shell because I find it burns a lot slower than say, BP or cheapie gas like Citgo. Mobile is alright - anyone have a fav brand that burns better?
