I know there have been many threads regarding clear bumper lights for our Protege 5.
I purchased the set for $50.00 from Pro Car Parts.
I will not go into the detail how to put these on as it has been covered before, but what I will tell you is the gromet issue.
I went to Pep Boys and purchased 3M emblem tape. This tape is about 3/8" on a roll with red plastic covering the adhesive. Cut this into many little strips and surround the outer perimeter of the lens on the rear.
Mount the lens on the bumper (other mods are necessary).
Then, go to WAL MART to the fabric section and by a piece of 8 1/2 x 11 inch black 1/8" black high density foam sheet with self-stick adhesive on the back. Cut an 11" strip by 2/8" of an inch. Start at the top, hold the ends out like wings and apply to the top, middle of the lens. This foam is waterproof, and is elastic. Though a dry run doesn't look like it will fit, as you make your way around like a "heart", the foam can stretch and will fit perfectly around the unit. Make sure there is no gap with the ends meeting each other in the center under the lens.
Wala! Looks professional and serves a purpose!
