Rust spot

hi all.
first time car owner...I've had my P5 for 2 1/2 years and I'm really happy with it...can't complain until now. Just noticed on the driver's side door rim, a tiny rust spot. I've looked in my owner's manual but can't seem to find what the warranty on rust is. I have a appointment at my dealer next week and will show it to them I just want to be prepared for any bull they may give me.
Advise anyone.

hmmm...i have no rust at all..is it caused by a ding that scratched the paint, or it just started rusting for example?

when you say door rim, you mean the black besides the windows?

I've had all of those black pannels have rust on them. Its convered under their "paint" warranty for 3 years. I am changing mine after 2 years and 10 months... but the rust will be back anyway... poor quality i guess.

THanks for the welcome...for some reason when I logged on the last visited day says 1969...I joined at the end of 2001 when I first got my car but never had anything to write about...until now.

The rust just looks like a spot...it's killing me and I can't wait to see waht my dealer says about it.

My friend has a protege too and he had the dealer change his about 6-7 month ago ( my dealer is painting mine?? )... anyway the rust is back so after the 3 year paint warranty we'll be stuck with that.

also, Mazda's "lifetime" rust treatment warranty they give when you buy the car is a ripoff.. i asked, and there needs to be perforation for them to repair it... mazda -> (chair) <- me

I have the exact same problem...but only on the driver door. It's starting to come through all over it in small spots. Looks like it's from the inside out so there really insn't much we can do. I bet they'll just give it a light sanding and spray it which is why it'll come back.

Not very noticable...but the problem is I notice it! It's on the driver's side so ever time I get into my car I check it out...making me crazy. I also don't want it to get much worse. It'll be three years this August that I have my car, so I want it fixed while still covered under warranty.

i havent had the black window trims rust, but they do fade VERY easily. i've repainted them twice now
