rust proof fender? rubberized spray? clear film spray?

when i unscrew the fender bolts inside the engine bay, the middle bolt snapped into rust dust on passenger side

so i guess my fender are very likely getting rusted inside.

gonna find a day to do some rust removal and roofing

anyone done this before? any product recommendation?

found 2 types of rust seal/proof spray >>> rubberized undercoating (fender should work too?) or clear film spray(named Fluid Film Rust and Corrosion Prevention)

both has 5/5 star reviews, guess both are doing their jobs very well

the thing is the very last time i get underneath my car, i saw wet rubber coating,

so i tear apart the coating done by previous owner, full of water pours out from it, and the frame are rusted inside the rubber wraping

so i wonder if rubber coating are really a good choice?

if you dont kill the rust by removing it COMPLETELY (cutting metal out) it will eventually come back, and if you just seal up rust it will just eat within itself and eventually become weak.

you can try what you want to slow it down, but if you are picky about it (like me) then it just becomes a very cumbersom(spelled right?) chore.

IMO stop trying to use home made cheap stuff and get rid of the rust properly. Like Dr0 said you need to cut and replace the rusty metal or you are only throwing a bandaid over the problem, once rust starts eating inside your unibody rails and supports you cannot stop it completely.

POR15 will help control rust and slow it down , its not cheap by any means but its also not crap.

Eastwood makes a good rustproofing that gets into tight spots as well, again not cheap but you get what you pay for.

the rubberized garbage will cause more rust in the longer term as it holds any moisture that you did not remove and allows the rust to continue to grow under a nice protective barrier.

Fluid film works great on protecting lawnmowers and garden tools from getting to rusty, not sure it will protect your already rusting car from rusting more to the point its like Phens.

tks, i'll see if i can grab a POR15 and try it out

probably gonna wire brush it and sand it down before applying

when you use p0r15 follow the directions word for word or watch a youtube vid of the application, its very important to have everything preped correctly or else the product wont work as stated

yea i will.

theres a por15canada.com selling it for 40 a quart.

i am probably gonna wait till next month to do it.
