running hot

This could just be the arizona summer, but my car has started running extremely hot, around 216, which is far above normal. it seems to be a recent occurance as it has never run like this previously. There seems to be no rhyme or reason, sometimes it just starts running hot, sometimes at a light, sometimes at 40mph on my way to work. I added some water wetter, checked coolant checked hoses, couldnt find anything wrong, any ideas?

Thanks,

Graham

change your coolant perhaps.
adjust your radiator fan tables in ATR (im playing with them to double check they work, im set to 200 degrees F but they must be super quiet lol.)
check to see if you can clean any debris from in front of the rad behind the condenser.

those are my ideas, for my old regal gs the rad was plumb full of dust, dirt, hair (wtf?) and bugs. was just gross in ever way lol.

Could be the thermostat going bad, or an issue with the water pump. Does it run hot at night or early in the morning when it has cooled off? It could just be the heat...and, 216 is still within the good zone, even though that is a bit warm, so if it's staying around that and not going higher it probably isn't something to fret about, especially if it cools off when the air cools off.

try "burping" your system. park on a hill with the front end up higher. With the engine hot and running pop the cap off the radiator (use a towel or something to not burn your hand) let it sit that way for a couple minutes then cap it back up. that will allow any air bubbles out.

otherwise, make sure your coolant level is good, and possibly flush/fill.

i will try those suggestions, i appreciate the help. Its odd because my buddy has a turbonetics kit on his mustang and having a similar issue. It odd because it will there seems to be no rhyme or reason to why it starts running hot, it just goes from 200 bumps up to 220, then goes back down.
