Running 1.6 with no Catalytic

A few weeks ago my check engine light came on and I took the car in to get them to read the code for me. They said it was my catalytic that was bad. I had a 6 hour drive to make for the christmas holidays so I gutted my cat for the trip. I have noticed that the check engine light (CEL) comes on after a couple days and I figure that the sensor behind the cat is triggering the CEL.

I have a parts car with low KM that I will be getting a cat from tomorrow so monday the CEL problems should be solved in my daily driver.

However I want to eventually make my parts car into a track car (trialerd to events) for solo 2. So does anyone know how I might solve the CEL problem in that car? I would like to still be able to rely on the CEL to warn me of other problems. So is there a way of making the stock computer run without the imput of that sensor or giving it a false reading so it thinks there is a functioning cat?

Spark plug non fouler? Uh where is that and what do I do to/with it?

Thanks

do some searchs on here for "non-fouler", alot of peeps are running them on there headers due to the fact that with running the obx, awr etc. it removes the primary cat. you can pick one up at autozone, etc for $5 bucks. It allows you to run the header without throwing the cel that would normally result from removing it.

My old 01 dx (rip) had the primary and secondary cat gutted, a little boost of horsepower maybe 2 or so, but my cel was always on, and I thought he same thing "if something happens to my s*** how will i know" well my spark plug fouled out and I had no idea until i saw the cel flashing. thne i check my plugs. but anywho, i don't know if that is relavent but i suppose it will still let you know if something ***** up

I have a 2003 MPV. AutoZone says they do not carry a spark plug non fouler for theat year/model.

I thought this might solve my problem as the check engine light came on (steady) and the dealer says my catalytic converter failed. I don't know the code. I have ordered a OBDII reader. They can replace it for $1,100 - thank you very much!

I live in MA, but could also register it in Maine - but both states have emission tests.

It just passed the MA emissions test two weeks ago, and another is not due for a year. I am thinking of just running it into the ground until next summer.

Would these spark plug non fouler enable me to do that? With the failed converter still in place, or should I remove it?

If I cut out the catalytic converter any opinions on whether it would still pass the test?

just find a universal non-fouler, they arent needed in most vehicles today so looking up your model will lead you to a dead end like you have seen. Now get a non-fouler from like NAPA or other auto store autozone, might not have them out on their shelves. Anyways, once you find the the non-fouler just search for the how-to on the the CEL/MIL Eliminator and follow the instructions.

This will trick the ECU into thinking that the Cat is working fine and wont set off a CEL or error codes allowing you to pass the emissions test next year.

We just did this to my buddy's 03 protege ES and he passed New Hampshires OBDII emissions test with no issues and thats with a gutted cat.
