Run In with SRT-4 (not a racing story)

Actually it's a lack of racing story.


So I'm stopped at a light and I look on my side view mirror and what do I see. A "cutesy" front bumper with an intercooler and a hood scoop. I identify it as an SRT right away and slow down to get a look see, (haven't really seen one before) So finally after driving along we stop at a light and are directly behind a pick up and a van. The two cars in front of us take off like normal and I sweat it must've taken us a lifetime to cross the intersection ( both I believe did not want to race, I sure as hell didn't want to) Anyways, He start pulling a away I'm lined up with his rear bumper, I get on the boost and now I'm 1/4 car lenght ahed of him, now where side by side with both ( I think) regfusing to let it rip. I know this because the two cars in front of us now made almost a good 7-8 car lenghts on us. lol and we had a bunch of cars lined up behind us. Anyways, I knew I would of gotten spanked anyways coz it was straight line and I wouldn't have raced since I had my two year old with me. But I think he had respect for the MSP, coz I know some jerks would have just have gotten on their boost.

Funny thing is I haven't really seen one before and know I've seen two since I got my MSP ( and they been around since 02???). Do you guys ever find that, when i got my prelude I swear i didn;t see one too often, after wards I'd see them all the time, same thing with my Spec V and even my 11 year old 240sx. And now it's happening again, only now it's with my car's direct competition. I like having a limited edition car, I've seen 1 MSP since I've gotten on mine and 3 since I've thought about owning one.

And I'm 100% sure there's quite a few of us MSP'ers here in Toronto.

I have seen a total of 3 SRT-4's on the roads in Toronto. Maybe i don't notice them, but they seem to be pretty rare.
I went on the Chrysler website a few months back, and all the dealers had them in stock, some more than 1.
They have been around since the 2003 model year only, not 2002.

There are a few here in Toronto(MSP). I dont see them too often, but I have spoted them on 4 or 5 occasions (not including meets).

I have only seen 1 SRT-4 on the road, at loblaws...LOL

There was an perty black 02 SRT-4 at the autox novice shcool Sunday. I had a chance to talk to the guy (about the same age as me - early 40's) and he had done some work to it. Coil-overs, Stage 1, blah, blah, blah. I asked him what his best time in the 1/4 was, he said 13.4 @ 105. This was non-LSD mind you. He said he had one, just hadn't gotten it installed yet.

Unfortunately, we where in different groups, so I didn't get to see him run. Hopefully he'll show up at an event in the future so I can see what it will do in something other then the 1320. Wish I had his seats.

Canada didnt get the srt-4 till 04, thats why we Canadians dont see many around

Ill have to back Vassago up on that one 2004 was first year they came to Canada, I've only seen 1 or 2 around TO, I still have yet to see another MSP not in a dealers lot!

No, not at all. I kept dead even with one at 8psi and an intake.

But stock, they are definitely faster.

a stock msp and a stock RX-8 assuming that the RX-8 is manual will be a close race. All I have is intake and I have raced 2 rx8s and beat both! One was auto and the other was manual. Big difference though between the two

I have seen two confirmed SRT-4 and one suspected. I have only ever seen one other orange MSP and one Titanium. Two STI as well.

Hey guys, this is my first post here. I've got an '04 SRT-4, and I'm a Mazda mechanic in Winnipeg.

Some of the facts you state are sort of surprising in a way. Winnipeg, being tiny compared to TO, there are tons of SRT-4's here already, and you guys say you don't see that many there. I'm a regular poster on www.srtforums.com. We've had a ton of meets already, and the best selling SRT dealer here has another 17 of them on the way!!! There's gonna be tons of them here!!

Actually, the SRT-4 has only been out since '03, which was only in the US, '04 for Canada.

I always have been a Dodge guy, but I also have alot of respect for the Mazda vehicles, cuz they're built so well. (Well, maybe except for the Ford based vehicles, lol) I especially like the MSP and the RX-8. Look forward to posting here.

saw a black srt-4 on friday. So you may be right they are multiplying.
