my friends gettin ready to get a new car, and is stuck between an rsx type-s and a gti 1.8t...personally i would choose the gti, its german, 180hp, ultra tunable, very nice inside, has nice seats, has the torque peak at 1950rpm, and is MUCH cheaper. the rsx on the other hand, you get the acura name, 20 more hp, but you ahve to rev it to the sky, plus EVERyone has an rsx, esp. alot of girls, what do you guys think?

gti all the way. my girlfriend has it (in auto unfortunately) but its still quick as hell. plus the unside is real nice.

id get the rsx, even tho i love the golf.

just because the reliablility on VW is way down.

my friend has a 2000 golf (2.0) and he has taken it to every schedualed tune up, oil change every 3000 miles, and now after 25000 miles it burns 3.5 quarts in 3000 miles, window gear stripped twice, 2 recalls, 2 electical problem issues, a random CEL, and a few more minor problems. its a mess.

WRX, Ive got 326 whp. :)

Even though the GTI is cheaper, I'd say RSX-S just for reliability. All you need is Hondata & they are FAST (3rd gear owns).

Gti all the ******* way, tuning is unlimited with that car. check out apr best place to find aftermarket stuff for he gti. My boss just bout the apr stage III, thats gonna be so sick.

Black Majik MSP - actually if you do a 3rd gear roll with them both the gti would start to pull, just b/c its a 5 speed compared to a 6 speed.

VW is a piece of crap!!! They cars break too often. You might as well get a Ford since they break less and parts/service is less expensive. What's wrong with WRX??

burning oil is only an issue with the 2. liter...1.8t is one of the most solid engines you can get....5 valves per cylider!!!! VERY tunable. Although, tell him to wait for the mark V's when the rear suspension is independent...they use a torsion beam in the rear for the mark iv's and it takes a lot of money to upgrade

APR has a kit to bring the GTI to 290 hp on pump gas($3000)!!! They have forged internals...once again VERY tunable.and unbelievable interior...i know I traded my 2003 GTI for an MSP:D

03Speed, I've been a member of VWVortex for almost 2 years...I know all about APR. All of my friends drive VWs. If you compare a 5spd & a 6spd, the 5 has longer gears, so the 6 will pull. Regardless, an accurate comparison would be the 6spd in the 337/20th Anniversary GTI. Mk IV VWs have lousy reliability & the Mk V GTI looks like the new Civic Si. Get the RSX!

one thing though .. either my girlfriends car is a lemon cus shes had so many problems w/ it and its a 2002 model or the car is really like that .. do some research ..

wrx=really high insurance, plus the only dealer anywhere near us treats people like s***, we went out to look at them and a guy just walks up to us and stands there looking at us, my friend says hes interested in a wrx, the guy says he has 20 of them, then just watches us from where he was standing

i dunno why he hasnt looked at the msp ;)

I'd get the RSX type S personally. GTIs are nice, but I see nothing but women driving them. Unless you are a girly mun like on Saturday Night Live's Hanz and Franz!! ;)

Get a Ford F250 like every one else in Charleston SC. Sure it gets crappy gas mileage and costs and arm and a leg, but I got have the extra torque to pull my 12 foot boat! Or short women driving Ford Excursions. :wtf: Land Yachts to carry the kids. I hope they have a big family. :D

you really can't go wrong with either one. I like the looks of both and the performance of both. My buddy has a 2001 GTI and it's fast as nuts. His only engine mod is a BOV and he dyno'd at 188hp with 210lb/ft of torque. It is a bad ass little car and looks sweet lowered and debadged. But the VW reliability has gone down recently.....the JD Power ratings have them hovering at the bottom lately. With the RSX he'll have proven reliability and cheap tuning from the Honda bins.

Both were on my list when I was looking in February. Never liked wee-dubs because of the idiot drivers I usually find behind the wheel of them. Love that 1.8T motor, though. Also...I'm not sure how the insurance on the RSX-S isn't worse than the WRX. Damn Acura's are stolen all the freakin time. Bang for the buck, i went MSP...and I'd do it again in any other universe. :D

Does the guy wanna leave his car mostly stock? Does he want a car to be a stop-light-drag champion? Ask your friend what he wants his car to DO For him. Those comments about "Girls drive" whatever car are

:bs:

Not that they aren't true - but they are stupid. If you WANT to subscribe to those thoughts, ask yourself THIS question:

Do you like Girls or Guys better? I happen to like GIRLS better. Thus, it'd make sense that the car I drive appeals to girls more than Guys. It's MUCH more fun, imnsho, to have a Hot chick say "wow! NICE car!" than a mullet-wearing Stoner in a T-Shirt and flip flops comment on how my car kicks so much ass.

it's your call.
