i just installed the mpi and my mpi reads differant then my stock tach but the same as my after market tach, for some reason if feels like the stock tach is correct. but may it just me but the mpi reads 1900 rpm the stock one reads 3500. has any one had this prob?

Have you verified the wiring? It should read the same since it's tapped into the ECU. I would definatly check the wiring and the connections to make sure it's all good.
 
make sure you solder the wires and don't use wire taps...

I hear that you can get some funky results if you wire tap the MPI instead of soldering it in
 
i checked

well there not soldered i butt connected them, but the thing is the mpi is the same as my after market tach and i there not hooked up in the same spot. butt i hooked them both up at the same time, the tach is run to the blue white wire in the engine bay in the diagnosis plug (drive side by the wiper motor).
