I wasn't really paying attention when my dealer was telling me about the roof racks.... I was too busy admiring my new wheels ;)

If anyone has detailed instructions on how to remove the roof racks, I'd be interested as well.

go out to your car....open the passengers side door, sit down, pull up on the handle of the glove box, remove the manual (of course the previous steps assume that you still keep your manual in the glovebox). UnZip the nice little black protective cover, pull the manual out, open it to page 3-21 and start following the instructions to remove the roof rack. Piece of Cake.

its amazing what you will find in that little book

Unless, of course, you have the early version of the manual (as I do) and then page 3-21 will tell you how to adjust your tilt wheel - You can adjust it seven ways from Sunday, but the roof rack will still be there when you're done ;)

My owners manual makes no mention anywhere of the roof rack, or how to remove it, and I've read it from cover to cover half a dozen times.

yeah sir nuke... i have the old bood also... and it doesnt tell you how to take off the roof rack.... if you can, please write the steps on this forum. I really would like to take off the rest of the rack... btw the pro 5 looks good without the roof rack... looks kinda slamed...

Okay...sorry guys....didn't know....so here ya go...better than me typing it all out....

this is the actual pages out of the manual....its for ADJUSTING the roof rack...all you have to do it REMOVE IT is to REMOVE the bolt in the second step and it all comes off...then just snap in the cover parts that came with your car....hopefully you got those too....a lot of people didn't.

thanks sir nuke... i got that far.. but i was wondering if there is a way to take the whole rack off or at least cover the metal that is left after you take the middle bars off.

thanks

YES there is.....you SHOULD have gotten four plastic pieces when you baught your car....you would have found them in a plastic bag in the back of the car...IF the dealer left them in and/or didn't throw them away.....for after you completely remove the support piece and the middle cross member you can still see the track that they bolt to....and you SHOULD have been given the below pictured pieces that snap into the track to cover it up....if you didn't get these with your car...go back to the dealer and demand them.

your right sir nuke.... they didnt give them to me... they forgot to put it in mine.. so i went today and talked to the dealer that sold me the car and he just gave me a new one.... and he gave me a Zoom~Zoom sticker too!!!! COOL!!!!!

there have been LOTS of people that didn't get them....they come IN the car in a plastic bag with the licence plate mounts....and I believe that the guys they have put them together have no clue what they are...and insted of just leaving them in the car they toss them.....what a bunch of morons.....ANYWAY....glad it worked out for you...

see....you really CAN learn something on this board! lol
