Yakima rack mounting info?

Hello:

First post here. I'll be installing a Yakima rack with Q-towers and clips soon. It seems as though some have had problems with the rear doors interfering with the clips. Can someone give me info on how to minimize this? Thanks! Loving the 5 so far!

Any idea where these roof rails are from? Gallery pic from MPVclub.com ... the info said the vehicle was "pimped" by a Dr. Somethingorother in Switzerland, but IMO these rails should have come stock!

no idea but I would got with the Inno or Thule so you can bolt right into the roof. The Inno is great, and much cheaper than the Thule. my 2 cents worth.

this are the one i"m looking for!!! if any one know where to buy them here in montreal or even if they seld them in the states!!!! I dont like to much those in ebay

Anyone interested in trading their OEM Mazda rack for my ROLA roof rack please hit me up. I need the OEM rack because my moonroof does not open with the ROLA. So if you have an OEM rack on a non moonroof Mazda5 and want to trade with me please contact me. The pros about doing this, is that you get a wider area to load things on my ROLA rack since the cross bars go past the mounting feet as opposed to the cross bars on the OEM rack. Here is a pic of my rack.

So can anyone confirm that the new Mazda roof rack part# 0000-8L-L09 still clears the moonroof fully even with a basket attached to it. I know for sure the old part number before the super cession cleared it fully. Anyone has the new OEM Mazda rack with a moonroof that can confirm this please. TIA.

Pic of our canoe on our M5! Inno racks with 50 inch square bars and the Inno IN420 boat rollers. Thule fairing.

I'm looking to get the same roof rack as well. But based on this guy's experience; http://www.papayapc.com/2011/08/28/mazda-5-factory-roof-rack-review/, it definitely clears the moon roof. The pictures shown looks to me that the moon roof can fully be opened even with a basket or a cargo carrier box on top. That's just my guess..

So I pulled the trigger because I couldn't pass up the great deal on a brand new OEM roof rack provided by our good friend on eBay lilbit09012002 for $190 shipped. I can now confirm for sure that the old and new OEM Mazda roof rack will definately clear the moonroof even with a Yakima basket mounted on the load bars.

Let us know what rack you get. I've seen that listing in the past too but wasn't sure if it was for the new or old rack. The part # says new rack but the pic is the old rack. Either way, this is the way to get an OEM rack. Hope it works out for you.

I definitely received the new number (0000-8L-L09) the box had that number and the cross bars stick out past the foots a la Thule style. The old one (CC43-V4-701G) also cleared the moonroof fully even with the same Yakima basket I have on the new one now. So both old an new definitely clear the moonroof fully even with something loaded on the bars. As long as whatever you attach to the bars is even with the top of the bars and doesn't hang below the load bars.

Opening moonroof with a cargo box installed on the new OEM rack

I installed the new OEM rack with a Yakima box (16S) on my 2007 touring. As you can see in the attached image, The moonroof touches the bottom of the box when it is completely opened. I don't suggest you to slide open it while moving. Tilting it has no problem.

Yakima Skybox Fit

For those who may be considering a Yakima cargo box, go with the Skybox 18. I installed a Skybox 16S because Skybox 18 is too long for my wife's hatchback. As you can see in the attached image, Skybox 16s looks a bit short on the roof. I tried 18 at my local REI and it looked better.
