Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona

I was at the rolex 24 this past weekend, and thought I'd share my pics and video.

Long story short, even with the rain, I had an absolute blast. As you'll probably notice in the pics and vids, the RX8s were the highlights of the race for me. Not only do they cost way less than most of the cars they trounced, but they did pretty well overall, and sounded freaking AMAZING.

We were camped out by Nascar 3-4, very close to the track. I found it strange that during the night, I was actually woken up by the red flag period brought on by Jeff Gordon obliterating the pit wall, ironically enough, while making a left turn (rlaugh). After 18 or so hours of racing, the cars just become background noise. It was a really cool experience, and hope to do it again next year. Maybe at some point in the distant future, LeMans will be in the cards.

Forgive the sound delay, but youtube apparently hates the video that my digital cam takes. They were mostly taken so I could share the sound, since the video quality generally sucks lol.

Man I really wanted to go but time / work did not allow so I watched / tivo'd it on speed! That was an awesome race!

hahahaha, I was waiting for someone to say something. NO, they weren't actually grilling anything, they were just being funny. And it was DAMN funny!

And they sounded so sweeeeet! Nothing like the sound of a rotary as they go through the gears and then fire out the exhst as they down shift..awesome s*** ...can wait for sebring!

As far as I know, there won't be a rotary @ Sebring. The new Mazdaspeed P2 entry is using a turbo I4

I think there will be but not p1 or p2 but problly in the GT categories.If not,there are allways rotaries in the endurance races prior to the 12 hour race.But in either case I still wanna see that 2liter turbo>that`s gonna be very interesting.

There will be no rotaries competeing in the 12 hour race...

Possibly no Aston Martins either..b00!

The Star mazda series cars sound crazy. Hopefully they'll be at the petit again this year.

On that note, the HSR Mitty's coming up in a couple months. They had some 3 rotor Historic Sports Car racers there last year, and they were freakin screamers.

yeah man those 3 rotors sound crazy there are a few drag cars around here and Orlando area that come to sunshine speedway1/8 mile and every time they race they sound like freeking F1 cars...All motor.

You will not see GrandAm cars at an ALMS race. Two completely different series.

i'm pretty sure my boyfriend is going to be working for the Risi Ferrari ALMS team, and a good friend of mine drive in the SPEED World Challenge Series, so i really wanna go see them in action!!!! and it's my spring break, so perfect timing. just need to get there!
