roaring sound from wheels

well guys i'm pretty sure it's a bearing of some sort. i've got on the factory aluminum wheels on right now due to a bent 19. but i have this roaring noise like i have super swampers on. i thought it was because of cheap tires. so today i bought Nitto Neogens (205/50/16) and it has helped a bit. but the roaring is still there, just not as loud. anybody have any ideas? thanks in advance.

How long did you ride with the Racing Harts? Time, miles? I know that if you run a set of heavy rims for a long period of time, you wear out the bearings faster than stock.

i've had them for almost 2 1/2 years. they have been off the car now since sept. miles wise i'd say about 70k worth. i traveled alot on buissness so i have alot of highway miles. good thing is i don't have to travel as much for work anymore. but an 03 P5 with just over 90k......(shocked) but she is still in great shape.

Grab the wheel and shake it- at the 12 o'clock position and the 3 and 9 o'clock positions. If you can feel any movement, then it could be a bad bearing, although the 3 and 9 o'clock positions could also indicate a bad tie rod.

I get a sound similar to this as well. Someone suggested wheel bearings, but they were replaced about 2000 miles ago, and it didn't change. Could it be the throw-out bearing in the transmission making this sound?

Should i take it to a mazda dealer? $80 for a diagnostic.

Thanks

The it sounds like bearings to me. Also note that rim design and tire tread patterns play a huge role in audio frequencies that resonate into the cabin.

I get the same thing with my MP5, but my sound varys when I brake or hit the gas. I'm going to the dealer before I go on my road trip to Florida. Hopefully the dealers can figure it out. The car is a 2002.5 MP5 wth 35K miles on her.

i was told it was wheel bearings. like i said before, i thought it might be the inexpensive tires i had before. the new Nittos did help a little, but it's still there. makes me want to dynomat the entire cabin of the car. i can get a bulk packs of dynomat extreme very cheap. (perks of working at an car audio shop) it's on my "to do" list.
