"Road Rally" Over Night Fun Run....

:
Mazdaspeed3. 2008
Who would be interested in a longer (much longer) fun run with a destination and an over night and then a run back? I was thinking all back roads up to Traverse (Steves idea actually) and then a different back road route back down the next day? We could hook up a BB (bed N breakfast) that could hold all of us. Bring the significant other of course and have a nice dinner out in the city of our destination and then a night on the town, crash out and do a good run home....

Sign up as interested and I will start to work on it...

we have a place about 20 minutes south of houghton lake. its about 1500 sq ft. depending on what time of the day we get there we could mess around with the dirtbikes (4) and my four wheeler

just throwing it out there for saving money for a place to sleep

I was thinking about this Bill and another suggestion would be a west to east side run and end up in Holland near the lighthouse or even Grand Haven.

Count me in, just as long as we have enough time planned ahead.

subbing for this ... if you guys endup doing a east to west run I'll look for ya and meet up somewhere around here and hang out.

We could actually head that way and you could join up and follow along for the duration of the first day and night and then head home the next day...

would be FUN!!!!! We plan to do a cannon ball style run or a poker run.. Ill have to talk to my crew and my route cordinator to try and get all of that done and post it up very soon for u all.

How about going past traverse and going up into the UP like Marquette or as far as Houghton (good driving roads up in the Keweenaw)? If you would be interested in going up there i am in.

I was talking with a co-worker today and we were looking at routes, he travels north a lot, and suggested a few things.

We could start somewhere local (Novi perhaps) and head out to Traverse City early in the morning, say 9 or 10ish. By taking back roads and stopping as a group, we can make it there in 7 hours (including gas, food and bathroom breaks) to make it there by 4 or 5pm. Going to dinner or a vineyard to kill time, then hitting a bar for the night would be the plan, only to return later in the night.

Day 2 would start with breakfast, then head down the west coast through Grand Haven and surrounding cities, then finally a trip back I-94 to where we started. I haven't started nailing down specific route points yet, but when Bill gets back I have a few ideas.

What's everyones thoughts on that?

Sounds cool. When I was up there looking at a Caddy, I stayed at a cheap hotal in Traverse that had free breakfast with hot waffles. (2thumbs)

I'm interested, TC down the west coast sounds like a good idea. Would be a weekend of only driving if we went all the way to houghton, the significant others probably wouldnt like that too much.

Well, just outside of TC is a few vineyards, I figure some time chatting and relaxing would appease them. The drive down on day 2 should be a pretty scenic route, and we can stop along the way at any of the scenic areas and relax there for a bit as well.

Realistically a trip to TC is about 5 hours. I added in two more for fluff and stops. We could always leave earlier or drive faster to adjust that.

I was looking in detail up in TC, we can go out on the peninsula and drive along the coast up there as well. Should make for some good scenery.

That seems a bit all over the place, dont know how you'd hit all of those spots. Do all of those represent something or is it just random place pickings?
