Road Noise or Tire Noise?

I consider myself anal when it comes to this sort of thing, and I know that money may be an issue, but I would not drive a car with mismatched tires any longer than I ABSOLUTELY HAD TO. When the snow flies this winter you have no idea what that car is going to do in poor traction conditions. If the Goodrides aren't as capable as the Kellys your van is going to want to spin at the drop of a hat, if the inverse is true, you won't be able to steer when the roads are covered in snow/ice. For your sake, please consider getting four tires that are the same as soon as you can.

100% agreed. I HATE mismatched tires, and the way they can make the car feel.

I learned fairly early on that tires are vital to nearly every performance attribute of the vehicle.

The ride, handling response, braking, safety, mpg, road noise, overall performance, etc., are all impacted by your choice of tire, and pressure.

This is one area where it is not wise to scrimp, ignore, or cheap out on.

I only speak up because my first Mazda5 was destroyed because of my own stupidity. I bought two new wheels (aftermarket, but roughly factory size 17x6 IIRC) that came with Nexen 3000 tires. I put them on the front, and left the aging OE Toyos on the rear. Less than a month later, i spun into oncoming traffic in a pouring rain, and the car was destroyed, nearly taking me with it. I will NEVER repeat that mistake again, and urge anyone without a matching set of four on their car, any car, to remedy it as soon as they are able.

100% Agree!
