Hi !
Yet another newbie question from me

The Blaupunkt San Fransico CD72 HU is rated

33 watts RMS/65 peak x 4 channels

Since installing an AMP is too much of a trouble for me, I'm thinking of driving the infinity Kappas by the HU alone,

in particular, from crutchfield, spec of Kappa 693.5i

power range 2-110 watts RMS
peak power handling 330 watts

Do you think this will work ? And how it will sound ?

yes it will work just fine....the rating of the unit is 33 watts rms....or CONTINUOUS power out put.....not its MAX PEAK.

same thing goes for the speakers.....if you are driving a speaker with a power handling capability of 100 watts rms with a headunit putting out 33 watts.....they are a safe bet that you will not damage them unless you keep maxing out your headunit and keep sending a lot of distortion to the speakers.


and with 33 watts rms.....your system will sound fine. I am only pushing 40 watts to my door speakers and find it more than loud enough and clear at only HALF volume.....

GO FOR IT.

Although RMS the 33 watts is BS.

If you really like the sound of the Kappas then go with them otherwise go with the Reference. They are better suited for use with head units.
