Ripped some garbage off my car and changed some bulbspics inside! (white MS3)

Okremoved some junk that was bothering me

First of, I was going to go with black emblems (Mazda M and the Mazdaspeed emblem) but I decided I actually like the chrome/white combo. Not all cars look good this way and some look better with black emblems (*COUGH* Black*COUGH* Red) but I like the chrome

What I dislike however is that damn goofy 3 following the Mazdaspeed emblemoff it goes:

Secondthe damn door mouldingonce again, thanks Mazda American for putting a goofy add-on to a car the Japanese had dialed in, way to domesticate your "Speed" line...Off they went:

NOWthere is a bit more to this story

First off the removal was easy, its rather cold out today (around 40Fnote I didnt say freezing) but I did have to warm up the front of the strip to get it to start coming off. After that I pulled slowly and in a steady manner and it popped off no problem. What IS a problem is the slight yellow left on the paint. No, its not glue as I cleaned and even ran a clay bar over the areaits an actual discoloration. It may be because my car is white but up close, if you really look hard, its there. From a distance however, if you didnt know what to look for, youd never see it (it doesnt show in pics, its that faint). Im going to give it time, let it sit in the sun this summer and post up on this later to see if the yellow fades with time. Personally, although being rather analit doesnt bother me. Id rather have a faint yellow area over those bad rails any day of the week.

LastlyI replaced the front turn signals with Silverstar bulbs (P/N 1157A ST). This my friends was a pain in the dickA ROYAL PAIN. Refusing to remove the bumper I did the pop out the wheel liner trickIm a larger fellow so my arms a bigger and I can say I tore the holy **** out of them getting them between the liner and the fenderOUCHseveral scrapes and cuts later I replaced both of them. I guess without pain theres no glory, I love the outcome no matter how sore my arms will be tomorrow. If I have to look at a jenky 1980s socket bulb on a modern car, I for ***** sake dont want it to be a glaring yellow one. Ill get to the rear turn signals later, they dont make that bulb in a Silverstar so Ill put chrome ones in to at least make them disappear while keeping legal:

(pretty cool pic huhI was messing with the camera flash and shutter settings and got this one)

Nextwhen the weather breaks, pitch black window tint

Very cool. I love the white. You sure you dont want to black out that rear M :). I think it looks awesome. Take a look at qwik 6's pictures. He has a white speed 6 with blacked out rear emblem. Those front lights look sick.

The yellow lines disappear with time.

I'm hoping on getting some tint this summer as well. Do you think the po in our area will be a problem?

Nope...I've tinted the windows on my cars for years. All you have to obey is one simple rule...never tint your front side windows!!! Other than that, all is good, go as dark as you like. I'm tinting the rear, small sides and rear doors and got a quote for $165 from Truck n' Stuff in Peoria. I've had them do all my cars in the past and they do a great job...(but if they don't I personally know the owner and I'd chew him out)...

Illinois cops WILL pull you over and fine you for tinting the fronts, I know many GTO and Mustang guys in the past that learned this the hard way...

Here's the Illinois tinting law:

I originally wanted to put LEDs in the front turns...then I saw what it would take.

So far I've not gotten any trouble with my window tint (knock on wood)...it's not overly dark so hopefully I can skate by. There are lots of cars around this part of the state with much darker tint so unless they pop me for speeding, I think it'll be ok...i hope.

Let me tell you, removing the 3 screw holders to get the inner fender well loose is no task...shoving my arm in the tiny and very sharp gap up to the headlight housing is the issue...everything in there seems to be made of sharp plastic or metal...it beat the s*** out of my arm.

Shame on Mazda for making that such a pain...the rear are beyond easy to get to...why in the hell do I have to remove the bumper to get full access to the headlight assembly? Out of all the cars I've had...only my '99 SHO was this bad because the turn signals were in a different part outside of the headlight.

About the yellowing, just give it some time and it will go away. Our paint has a lot of flake in it and something with the sun not getting to it will make it discolor a bit. Give it some time in the sun and it should go away :). Car looks great btw!

My bad... I should have specified. I want to tint the front sides as well. I hate how cars look with the back tinted and nothing on the fronts. Maybe, if I keep the tint light, they won't care as much...

Be careful...for some reason the County and State cops don't mess around with front tinting OR removing your front license plate...

I'd love to black out my car but the fine and pain of ripping the tint I just slapped down $80 for is not worth the trouble.

When I removed the front bumper for a clean HID ballast install, I will agree 100000000% on what a PITA it was to get those clips out from the fender liner. f-that!

Not a particular fan of the look of silverstar orange bulbs when they are off, too shiney/blue for my taste.

I ride 100% of the time with my parking lights on, regardless of what time of day, so I'm OK with orange bulbs in there.

As for the yellowing of the moldings, use a paint polish on those areas and the yellowing will blend more and as stated, with time it'll match.

Mine will be coming off my car as soon as it gets warm.
