Here is a brief review of the ContiExtremeContact I recently had installed on my MS3.
First, I had to go to a 225/45-18 because Continental doesn't make this tire in the stock size. The tire fits perfectly on the stock rim. It does look a little fatter, in a good way, but the sidewalls do not look like they stick out to much. On dry roads, these tires have a good amount of grip for an all season tire. I was actually suprised by this. In the wet, I feel that they out perform the stock Bridgestones. There is no hydroplaning whatsoever and they feel great at highway speeds in the rain. This leads me to snow and ice. Two weekends ago my wife and I were on the way home. She was driving and it started to snow. The closer we got to home, it started to turn to ice. Let me just say I am was impressed. My wife has very little experience driving in these conditions. The tires performed better than I thought. There was no sliding or spinning. Last night on the my way home was my first drive in the snow with these tires. They were awesome. I took one corner quicker than I should have and there was no drama. Even when I was going up my the hill that is my unplowed driveway, the traction control light did not even flicker.
I rate these tires a 9.5/10. If Continental made a 215/45-18, I would give them a 10.
They were $133/tire at TireRack.
Pictures will follow if and when I get a chance.
