Resonator size vs. sound?

I currenlty have INJEN, OBX, and Corksport Exhaust. Honestly, it sounds like poo, especially between 3000 and 3500 rpm. Would increasing the size of the resonator affect the sound?

I noticed the stock resonator is longer than the one on the Corksport, but the Corksport one seems to have a larger diameter. I have an extra CS midpipe w/ a blown resonator. I was thinking of fixing the weld and adding it, somehow, to the midpipe I have now. Either seperate ===[__]=[__]=== or weld together ===[__|__]===

Any ideas on the affect of the sound?

My car sounded great until I blew all of the glasspack out of my bosal resonator and MSP muffler..sounds like s*** now. I want to pick up some stebro gear.

best to have 2 different sized resonators imo.

a resonator will cancel and reduce sounds in it's tuned area. 2 different resonators will cancel and reduce sounds in 2 different areas.

Does anyone have this kind of setup?

This has been the only thing holding me back from buying a header. The sound from the NA clips don't sound too pleasing except for the the one with the racingbeat cat-back. Anyway, since I've already done exhaust work with the mazdaspeed axleback, I don't want to get rid of my it, but I'd be willing to redo my resonators if it does help. Placement info would be great!(thumb)

do you guys really thing that mazdaspeed axle back and obx header don't sound good? I think it sounds pretty nice. Granted i don't have any other exaust work done so maybe it will sound like poo once something else changes.....

Well I am just going by those recordings on the NA sound thread. I actually haven't heard it in real life. So maybe my judgement may be off, but I've pm'd some who've had it and they do agree it maybe obnoxious.

my car sounds really close to the video clip in the how-to section/how-to install a 2.0 header thread. I don't think it's obnoxious. It's not quiet, but its not holly-s***-shut-the-hell-up loud. Just nice and pronounced.... i don't know, different people different tastes i guess.

When I had the OBX header and MS Axle back, it was good except the highway drone at 80mph (3700rpm). Now that I have the OBX head and full CS exhaust, it's loud...like, "here come's Luke from a couple blocks away" loud. The solution to my problem is I'm going to put the axle back portion from a MSP (chop the piping) on my car. It sounded so much better, and had no rasp to it at all.

gotcha, nice congratulations : )

So wait by chop the piping you mean that you shortened it, right?

Anyway good to hear that you're happy with the sound : )

My friend david could not bear his bosal cat back (no resonator) with wagner catless downpipe. He is now running bosal cat to axle section, and the stock muffler with a nice tip. It sound surprisingly well : )
