REPORT: Chevrolet Cruze SS being pushed for hard by company insiders

The Delta chassis was introduced in 2003 with the Saturn Ion. Followed by the Opel/Vauxhall Astra and then the Opel Zafira minvan, Chevy Cobalt, Pontiac Pursuit/G4/G5, and the Chevy HHR.

The Cruze and Astra are on a updated Delta II chassis. Atleast GM has been updating the Delta chassis unlike Ford with the C1 chassis that the US Focus has been riding on since 1998 with very little updates.

I thought the Delta platform was a rehashed Cavalier platform with global designation?

OH that would suck lol, hate that car hahaha.

As for the cobalt, screw that piece of s***. I don't care how fast it was, ugly inside, nowhere near as comfortable of a ride and appearance was failure. Come one GM, you make sick as looking vettes, newly developed prototype Camaro at the time, your Holden / Vauxhall designs and you creat that turd.

No way! The Cavalier and Sunfire were on the J-Body platform from 1982...I owned a couple of Crapliers. Those cars are junk! The Cobalt was lightyears ahead of the Cravalier!

Well that's good to hear at least. Just too bad the exterior design didn't match the effort lol. For example, the Chevy Volt looks awesome! Why did it take this whole "GREEN" movement for that kind of design language?

it's because we're never going to see a penny of that money back...

I'll buy a ford, but GM and Chrysler need to die in a fire

Yea, I can see the Chrysler one, minus the jeep wrangler. That is still a very well built offroader.

chevy vehicles do absolutely nothing for me(boom07)

Just checking.

okay. Just wanted to make sure.

I havent had the luxury of driving a ZR1 but i have driven a Z06...while it's fast as all hell and quite fun to lay on the throttle...the interior just doesnt warrant the price...oh and the flexing body panels is goofy...i understand it's to save weight but just looks funny to me when you press on a bumper and it flexes

Don't get me wrong, the Corvette is one of the few American cars that is truly impressive from an engineering/cost standpoint, but the rest of their lineup is just blah.

Chrysler has the same thing with the Viper, but it's too far upmarket to compare, unless you're talking in Z06 or ZR1 trims. I only wish Ford and other manufacturers would put out some sort of $60-70k halo sports car to compete against.

+1 on new Z06 interior, wtf? Its a great car, but not exactly a good deal with the price tag of $85k - $90k. For plain interior (which not to say this car looks ugly inside), I'd save the money and get a GTR which hands the Z06's ass to him.

ZR1, hot car, but haven't been able to check to see if the interior had been improved, but I highly doubt it.

Sat in one at last year's Detroit auto show, it's no better than the Z06.

Good thing, you can buy a lightly used Z06 for cheap, they don't seem to hold their value that well right now. I'd consider one vs. a GT500 only because of the potential at the right price point.

LOL the GT500 is ass, I'm sorry lol. If I was a huge mustang fan, I'd just buy older model and save what I WOULD have spent on a new but used GT500 and make it way faster lol.

That's crazy the ZR1 interior isn't improved....way to go Chevy, at least MAZDA takes some pride in their interior lol....although I wish Mazda would hurry up and either

A) Bring back the RX-7 with the BALLS
B) Re-introduce RX-8 WITH BALLS

As for cheap Z06's, get thisl...

...and friend of mine in Texas has this co-worker that bought a 2008 Z06 with under 15k miles for $26k in Chicago and drove up to pick it up lol (which I thought was stupid cus I would have used the money saved and had the thing flat bedded to texas).

I'd buy a GT500, slap a bigger blower on it, and walk most cars around for $50k all day.

The RX-8 needs a serious torque boost, and closer to 300hp would make it competitive with the sports coupes.

And like I said, you can find cheap C6 Z06's if you look hard enough. It's one of the best used cars to buy out there for the performance enthusiast.
