Replacing Xenons with normal lamps

Hi there. Do you think it's possible to replace Xenons headlights with normal bulbs ? Yesterday i was driven 2 versions of CX-7. First had Xenons mounted into lens ... second had normal non-xenon bulb. Construcion of both headlights seemed to be the same (lens etc.)

Why i'm asking for this ? I bought US version, but i'm from EU. Mazda has Xenons without auto-leveling what is forbidden in EU. So i thought that problem could be resolved as above ... I realize that even if construction of both headlights seems to be the same, there could be a voltage problems or anything ....but do you think that any car electrician could do it ?

thanks for any answers

How often will you be stopped for non-auto level xenons? Will they really pull you over? Will the cost of auto-level light tickets be more than the conversion itself?

you're right ... police is not the problem ... however in europe they can cancel your driver licence after they'll discover illegal xenons ... whatever .... i think the biggest problem is a yearly technical examination, which is mandatory in EU ...

I am sorry but it does not make sense, if having xenons means you need the auto leveling than the car shouldnt be allowed for sale in the country because it doesnt pass the country requirements, i would check into that before i would worry about spending money into other equipment.

Of course there's a sense ... US CX7 costs around 27k $ ... EU version costs around 40k Euro ... and the only significant difference is non auto-leveled xenons (US version is better equipped) ... so just think ...

Got it brotha. Well good luck on the journey.

Ask your question on hidplanet.com Though in the pm I sent you that member stated even though he had Halogen projectors they still wanted him to have auto leveling?!?

I don't know man...I have friends who just bought a fully loaded Prius here to take back to Germany because they're so much cheaper here and the Euro/Dollar exchange rate is very favorable for them. There Prius has HID's as well and either A) they're not concerned w/ this or B) the Prius's are auto-leveling.

The actual projector lens is different between the halogen and xenon headlight unit. Also, I believe the mounting bracket is probably different with the xenon unit, but I don't know that for a fact.
