Replacing the Mazda3s gauges?

Hi, i'm very close to getting a 2006 3s sedan. Problem is, i hate the glowy speedo, etc.. I notice the 3i has plain old white-on-black non-EL gauges. Would it be even conceivable to replace all the glowy gauges in a 3s with the ones from a 3i? Or maybe are there aftermarket ones that could be swapped in? Just wondering... thanks!

i hated the guages at first as well... trust me you will prob grow to like them, as it is one thing every one who gets in your car notices... also you can adjust the brightness quite a bit with the adj button (upper left of speedo) and you may find a setting that you like better then the defualt... check it out and play with all the settings before you make a decision... changing out a dash is more work then you think.

Ive got a 3i id trade! I loved my 3S guages, sOoOooo much nicer. You can turn the glowing effect on and off with a button anyway.

does the mileage get stored in the cluster memory or the ECU?

just thought i'd mention it, as it may or may not be an issue.

I'd trade plus some cash for the glowing gauges. I have 2 sets, the one that came with my car(Canadian model, so in kilometers), then bought a cluster off ebay(mph), my wife liked the KPH, so kept it in. As far as I know(went to mazda dealer) the Mazda 3 would have to be changed to the correct miles at a speedometer shop and I would highly suggest if you do it, you have it done through a Mazda dealer to avoid warranty problems and any questions later when car is sold etc.

I started this thread... and just wanted to add, that now that i have the 3s, i don't mind the glowy guages so much... in fact i kinda like them. Heheh, it goes to show, you don't ever know... (thumb)
