Mazda Protegee 5 2003
Hello All,

I am looking for any suggestion or resources to help me replace the Rear license plate on my car. I have a Mazda Protege 5 2003 that had a black mounting plate that is different from the front mounting plate. I have called the dealer for a replacement and was told there is no mounting plate on the rear of the car but there is. The plate do not mount directly to the care. I have called and ordered from on line auto parts and in spite of me saying rear mounting plate I have been sent two front plates. I walked two U-pull it lots with no luck and I guess these cars are of such great quality I can't find one in a junk yard.

Is there a universal one I have not seen. I need to make a long distant drive soon and really need to get that plate on the care with out having to attempt drilling new holes in the plate or car.

I had the same problem... the holes on my p5 arent universal with other licence plates.. so i had this drilled when i bought the car
and just used the original holes and licence holder holes, chucked 2 bolts and 2 nuts I had laying around
just like this

Dealers might not carry anymore, I got mine from a junk yard.
BN5V-50-2N0 - Holder Assy, License Plate
FB01-50-133C - Fastener (hold plate to bracket need 2)

EDIT/ADD: Fasteners might come with the assembly

I am looking for any suggestions to replace the Rear license plate, the one that came on the car i had to cut to remove the bolts holding it to the car because the plate is bolted over them and they where to rusted to get off the plate.

You could get some strips of magnet strong enough to hold the plate on and not have to drill any holes

You need a frame from Colorado. Top: Colorado. Bottom: We Are Higher Than You.

I am really asking is besides salvage there any plate holders that will bolt on to the existing holes that the P5 has ?

I like the magnet idea idea but need something that cant easily been taken off.
