Replacing OEM Speakers

I have the basic audio system (6 speakers) and I believe the door speakers are 6"x8", but can anyone tell me what size the dash speakers are?

What's been the best after market replacement pioneer, alpine, infinity, etc..?

What did you end up going with the Kickers or the Pyle Blue? Did you just leave the dash speakers stock and how was your overall sound afterwords?

Kicker may be my best option, I totally forgot my brother in-laws step dad works at the Kicker plant in Stillwater, OK so maybe I can get a discount and they are only an hour away from me.

Being that I'm a noob and still finding a lot out, I'm not sure if I even have a stock amp with the basic stereo system. I thought that was only with the Bose upgrade, so I'm hoping I have enough power from the stock unit to run after market speakers and get better sound, of course I guess anything is better than stock.

I never did, but was leaning towards the Kickers. (Not enough work)

The base unit has an amp, of course. In my other post, I explained that the new speakers will make better use of the amp, having better sensitivity, making the amp perform better. Go for it. Our base system doesn't sound that bad, considering the cheap speakers. Just upgrading those has to make a huge improvement in the sound.

I'd start with the door speakers first. Then if you need better highs, do the dash speakers.

Don't think I'm ambitious enough. I will probably break down and pay for quality install since I'm afraid I might break something taking the door panels off.

If I do install myself, does anyone know if the Kicker speaker fit the factory space for speakers. I've read on other forums you might have to mod something up to mount the after market speakers and that only Pioneer's were a direct swap.

Door panels are super easy to take off, but, if you don;t want to, choose a reliable shop.

That's awesome, I may be able to follow that.

After looking at the link you posted with the Kicker DS speakers it got me thinking. The lower grade DS speakers are 70 watts the next higher grade Kicker speakers are the KS series which are 180 watts. Would it make since to get the KS series since they are 180 vs. 70 watts and may be to much for the stock head unit?

Don't know if I phrased that correctly, but I know very little about electronics. What I'm trying to say is if I get the KS series am I just throwing money away because the stock head unit one have enough power to use the full range of the 180 watts.

Speaker power rating is the amount they can handle. Nothing else. Especially with a factory head unit, you always want to get the speakers with the highest Sensitivity, to maximize the low power of the amp.

In this case, getting speakers that handle more is a waste, unless you plan to add more amplification later.

Good to know, the sensitivity level on both of these is the same at 90 db. I'll probably go the DS route and save some money, thanks CX9 SportOwner

Going to talk the the brother in-law this weekend to see if there is any kind of discount I can get and if not I may go the amazon route on the DS series and try to install them myself using your guideline.
