Replacing my factory Kenwood sub/amp - need advice

so as of now i have the stock msp kenwood sub/amp enclosure in the trunk.

for something stock, it performs fairly well, but there are a couple things that i just can't put up with anymore.

1) the whole enclosure rattles on bumps, and i don't wanna go thru the trouble of taking it out, padding everything, and reinstalling it. i told the dealer, and they just shoved some padded tape in the front (which helped none).

2) the sub starts to loose its bass sound and turns to a 'rattling hum' sound at a fairly low volume on any song with legitimate bass.

i recently picked up a Kenwood KAC-819 amp off ebay, and i'm 'in the market' for a sub to match it with. because i'm weird, i'd like to match the brands. for the sub, i'm considering one 10" Kenwood KFC-W2509.

two questions:

1) any comments/suggestions on what i'm considering? if you have any other suggestions, list em.

2) what type of box would be best for a single sub? (i'm not looking for hardcore bass or anything, just a little more bump than stock) where could i buy a decent box?

thanks.

Brand matching is great and all...as long as you understand that any one brand does not make the best equipment in each category (hu, amp, sub, speaker, etc). Kenwood is a jack-of-all trades-master-of-none type of company. I certainly wouldn't buy their subs because for your money you can get something much better. I'm not going to make suggestions other than to search this forum and the internet.

As far as boxes go, you should be fine with a basic sealed wedge shaped box. If you have access to a table saw and jig saw you can make one for $25 in an afternoon. You need a 4x8 sheet of MDF (possibly just a 4x4 sheet for a single sub enclosure), some glue and screws, and possibly a few jig saw blades. A perfect circle jig and a router could be used instead of a jig saw to cut the subwoofer hole.

If making your own box is not in the cards you can buy one for $60-100. Many online stores sell them and any audio shop would be happy to make one for you.

well the sub i'm looking at is in the 30-60 dollar range - what would you recommend for a better performing sub for the same price?
