Replacing broken rearview mirror

Hello everyone, i have a 2017 mazda cx5 gt with tech package.
I need help if anyone knows how to remove or replace the mirror part on my rearview mirror.

Homelink works and it's just the mirror itself is cracked. I phoned the dealership but got quoted $600 cad for a whole rearview mirror unit with homelink.

Planning on just removing the broken glass and going to a glass shop.

Is it possible? Thanks.

Glass shop may be able to cut you a matching piece that's just a little smaller and attach it to the existing glass with adhesive. That might work if the glass doesn't stick out too far.

while the side mirrors are readily available...

I believe the rearview mirror is a bit curved and it’d be hard to stick a flat mirror on the existing cracked mirror. Besides, your 2017 CX-5 GT has auto dimming with HOMELINK®. It has special treatment on the back of the mirror and that’s why it’s expensive.

You have 2 choices on OEM part and accessary. You can DIY which should save you almost $400, and it’s an easy plug-and-play job. The other alternative is to find a used one in salvage yard.

OEM part:

Or OEM accessary:

Out of curiosity, how did the rearview mirror break?

there was a post in the past which mentioned the 'brand' of these mirrors. You can buy them cheaper than oem. Also a used one from ebay should work well too.

Looks like it is up already. Gentex Corporation makes the Homelink mirrors.

For some reason several links you provided starting with “https://smile” can never work.

Searched Gentex on Amazon and:

This’s generic Gentex auto dimming rearview mirror with HOMELINK®. For the price I’d get OEM part or accessary.

That is because I purposely add a space so the forum software doen't clobber them with the affiliate link. You can only get credit for one type of link. I'd rather donate to charity.

Copy paste the link... remove the space after https://smile.

strange, last time I was checking the normal one was in the 100usd range. Not the frameless. Bonus is the compass :)
