Repinning intake cam for better exhaust cam?

i am thinking of just doing this. getting the j-spec intake cam and then taking my old intake cam repinning it and installing it as the exhaust. this idea has be around for a little bit now. What i would like to know is if anyone has the specs for the mazdaspeed exhaust cam and the specs for our stock intake cam. I woul dlike to compare them and just make sure. Not that I don't trust you guys . i would just like to see it for myself.. You know how it is.. Thanx .. TTY

Looks like repinning the stock intake will give you .020 more lift but you will lose 2 degrees of duration. How much is that 2 degrees going to hinder. The lift will be better... Let me know what you guys think. Keep in mind if you repin the intake we may not have to retard the exhaust to lessen over lap. We will be loosing 2 degrees of duration. Again what do you guys think.. TTY

from what i can tell, the mazdaspeed exhaust cam is basically what you're wanting to do - just a pin swap.

you will get more air out of the engine with .020" of lift than you will with 2 degrees of duration.

but definately do the pin swap and get cam gears

any place with cam spec machines could do it because they will need to put the pin in the same place as your old exhaust cam - it's not exactly 180 degrees different.

i am about to do exactly this. my j-spec cam will be here in days and the swap will be done beginning of jan. I might even get it dynoed. I will let everyone know what happens. Thanks twilight

no problem at all! yeah make sure you let everyone know how it goes because it's a very very cheap alternative to the mazdaspeed exhaust cam
