I painted them black last summer but didn't like it much. Because of our wheels having such thick spokes it's hard to see black calipers. I decided today to highlight them yellow. It's a work in progress as I only did the two fronts today. Not great pics but Ithink they look much better than just black.

I really like that... its different than all the red that you see people doing theirs. I did mine blue. The yellow really makes it look good.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I saw them in the glass of a building I was driving by today and finally got a good look at them in motion. I'll hopefully be able to do the rear calipers sometime next week.

Looks good to me..Be hey..just do the whole caliper yellow....It kind of looks funny with just the bracket done that way.
Or at least part of the caiper to help balance it out.

I thought about just doing the whole thing yellow about a week aftedr I did them all black last summer. I wanted to be a little diffrent and try this out. I figured if I don't like it, I can just dothe whole thing. I like the way it came out and honestly I like the fact that I've never seen calipers painted this way. It looks "weird" but not incomplete of like a mistake.

could you tell me your process of painting the calipers. i have a duplicolor caliper paint kit that doesnt come with sandpaper or primer. it includes- caliper paint, caliper cleaner spray, tape, stir stick, and brush. do i need to sand the caliper or primer it first?

did mine, you just need to make sure the calipers are good and clean. spray them with the cleaner and use a real stiff bristled brush if you have one, then paint away

Well I used a G2 paint kit to do mine last year and that came with a can of spray cleaner. This time I just used rubbing alcohol to wipe down the area I wanted to repaint. I taped off the rest with carpenters tape (the blue stuff that leaves no glue behind). I put down about 4 layers, let it dry 45 minutes or so adn put the wheels back on.

I'm going to attempt this project this weekend. I ordered the Mazda caliper decals online and plan on going to Autozone after work today. I planned on buying the Duplicolor caliper kit (red), a steel brush, and some high temp clear coat. Am I missing anything. Other suggestions? I just figured I might need the clear coat to ensure the vinyl decals stay in tact - i think they're vinyl. I wanna take my time to make it look professional and all.

I had vinyl hi temp sticker on the calipers of my old car and they never peeled off in the 3 years they were on. I never used clear coat on them

hmmm I ordered mine from a place that sounds similar to

neonmods dot com. Sorry, not sure if they are a sponsor. They are supposed to be high temp decals. So they should just stay on then? Maybe the temperature of the brakes bakes them on?

I never ordered mine or I'd send you to them. I had a friend in Hong Kong who had the same car as me (Lexus Is300). He had stickers made over there and sent me a set.

Well I bought the Duplicolor Kit from Autozone. After reading several opinions here and on several other boards from people who have used the kit, I will be returning it today. Last night I ordered the G2 kit online, which is supposed to be much superior in terms of durability. Only thing is that I probably won't get it in time for the weekend. Probably have to wait until the summer now.
