Removing side molding tips?

Do these start peeling off by themselves over time? If mine got really bad underneath the molding, I'd be inclined to clean it out really nice when they came off, and just get another set put on there to cover it up (lol2)

I think the glue gets harder and harder to remove over time. It's so easy to do when the car is relatively new.

I would post some pictures of mine but I hit my flickr limit weeks ago.

hahah i removed mine the 3rd day that i had the car!
and im glad i did it looks so much nicer and makes it way easier to clean

Wow couldn't believe it was that easy. Literally took few mins to remove since it was in the 90's here in the Bay Area. No residue or discoloration, just dirt. I'll post pics tomorrow.

I just had to use the hairdryer to heat up the molding enough to get it started. Peeled right off. Did that and pulled the pinstripes off in about 4 or 5 minutes.

Looks good hyper.

A hair dryer ... neighbors probably thought something was wrong with you that day lol

moldings like this aren't there to necessarily prevent damage from other doors, they are there to more to prevent you from opening your door into something....like the pole in a garage, the posts at a gas pump, the wall of a garage, a bump from a grocery cart, etc.....

I think the cleaner look is cool, but I'd kick myself the moment a saw a dent in the car.

Your still going to get door dings regardless if you have the side moldings on or not, they are placed a bit too low on the door to protect from anything. Any door I've seen open near my car would hit a few inches above where the moldings are. On the CWP the side moldings didnt match the paint anyway they were a tad darker.

I'll keep mine on. There are so many variables involving door dings that you never know when those moldings will be in just the right spot to prevent a nasty ding.

I think its odd to see some photos of 3's with side moldings removed but rear bumper step plates added.
